Man-size Chocolate Cookies

Man-Size Chocolate Cookies

15 cookies

Preparation time:




1 stick margarine

2 ½ squares unsweetened chocolate

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

2 cups sifted flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ cup buttermilk

Chocolate glaze:

1 tablespoon butter or margarine

1 ½ squares unsweetened chocolate

1 ½ cups sifted powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk


Melt margarine and 2 ½ squares chocolate in pan and remove from range. Blend in 1 cup sugar and vanilla. Drop in eggs and beat well. Mix together flour, baking powder, and soda. Add to melted chocolate mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Drop by heaping tablespoons on lightly greased cookie sheet; bake at 350 for 12 minutes. Cool and spread with chocolate glaze.

Glaze: mix all ingredients together until glossy.


I grew up with these – my mom got the recipe from the Martha Dixon Copper Kettle show and cookbook. My brother Brent’s favorite.
