3 dozen cookies

Preparation time:

1 ¼ cups sifted flour

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup butter

1/3 cup sifted confectioners sugar

1 tablespoon milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

2/3 cups chopped dates

½ cups chopped pecans

Combine flour and salt; sift twice. Cream butter and gradually add sugar; add milk and vanilla; stir in sifted flour. Stir in dates and nuts (don’t overmix). Roll into balls. Place on greased baking sheet and bake at 300 for 20 minutes or until very light brown. While warm, roll in powdered sugar.

This is a recipe another recipe from my mom circa 1950s – just the smell takes me back to Christmas at home!
